The Pilot Deployment Project
The grant will support pilot projects aimed at improving water quality and habitat and at reducing polluted runoff in the Milwaukee area using new cutting-edge technologies. Funds will be distributed to Star Water USA, Harbor District Inc. and the Water Council for program management and oversight.
Reduction of polluted stormwater in the Wilson Park Creek Subwatershed of the Kinnickinnic River
The Fund for Lake Michigan is supporting American Rivers’ implementation of two green infrastructure projects in the Wilson Park Creek sub-watershed of the Kinnickinnic River, improving water quality by keeping sediment, nutrients, oil, and other surface toxins from entering local waterways.
Planning for Trial Point/Non-point Water Quality Market
The Sand County Foundation will begin research and stakeholder outreach to support the development of a pilot water quality market for phosphorus reductions in the Milwaukee River watershed. The pilot will employ a cooperative model in which farmers in a voluntary association would decide how to apportion money to producers who reduce agricultural runoff.

Phase 1 Site Development
This grant will help develop a green infrastructure and stormwater management plan as part of a larger effort to restore and develop recreational and educational facilities at this 67-acre wooded site along the Menomonee River in Wauwatosa.
Pervious Pavement & Vital Public Lesson
The friends group will use this grant from the Fund to restore ravines and reduce runoff at the North Point Lighthouse, a national historic site in the heart of Lake Park. The project will implement an innovative new green infrastructure practice that is expected to improve water quality significantly at nearby Bradford Beach.
