Our funding would support the construction of a regenerative stormwater conveyance (RSC) system to address a major stormwater runoff concern at the Willow Creek Preserve. Willow Creek has already seen a rebound in wildlife since its acquisition by Glacial Lakes Conservancy. Lake trout and salmon have been spotted in the wetlands during spawning runs along with Blanding’s turtles and rusty patch bumble bees, both federally listed species. The construction of an RSC would address the largest water quality concern for the Willow Creek preserve. Stormwater runoff from local commercial developments has caused significant erosion and is the largest contributor of pollutants to the preserve. An RSC system is an excellent fit in this area due to the steep slope and compact area of the project.
