Water Quality Improvement via Habitat Restoration and Green Infrastructure on Milwaukee’s Southside

The Sixteenth Street Community Health Center (SSCHC) will restore and maintain native habitat in a 4.5-acre tract along the Kinnickinnic (KK) River, in a highly developed area that is one of the most densely populated in the state. They will also install green infrastructure at one or more of their clinics within the Kinnickinnic and Menomonee River Watersheds. Building on the ecological and health benefits of this project, SSCHC will foster public education and stewardship through community events, volunteer opportunities, and summer restoration internships for youth.
