Our funding will support research to better understand the life cycle of longnose suckers in Lake Michigan. Longnose suckers are a key food source for fish species such as whitefish, walleye and lake trout. Longnose suckers will be tagged in Heins Creek and Hibbard Creek on the eastern side of Door County. The movement of the tagged fish will be tracked throughout Lake Michigan using the GLATOS receiver infrastructure. This data will help researchers understand spawning preferences and seasonal habitat needs for the species.
