Fund For Lake Michigan

The WATERshed Program

  • Grant Recipient: WATERshed
  • Amount: $17,200
  • Year: 2022
  • Watershed: Pike River, Root River
  • Focus Area: Education/Outreach

The WATERshed Program teaches students in Racine and Kenosha about the significance of living in a coastal community with freshwater resources and demonstrates how human activities impact the Root-Pike Watershed and Lake Michigan. Through hands-on activities, learners discover what’s going down storm drains and how it travels to rivers and lakes from their neighborhoods. Participants conduct scientific tests to determine water quality and explore diverse ecosystems within their coastal community.
