  • Amount: $19,500
  • Year: 2023
  • Watershed: Lake Michigan Coast, Pike River, Root River
  • Focus Area: Education/Outreach

The WATERshed Project educates around 2,000 4th, 5th and 12th grade students in Racine and Kenosha school districts. The project educates local youth on the value of freshwater resources and demonstrates how human activities, both positive and negative, affect local watersheds and Lake Michigan. Over the summer of 2023, the WATERshed project manager will work on program curriculum and scheduling with school administrators and teachers. Field trips and in-class lessons are conducted throughout the school year. Teachers will implement Great Lakes education in their classrooms and engage their students in Great Lakes service projects.
