SOURCE TO SINK: TRACKING BACTERIAL CONTAMINATION AND IMPACT THROUGH THE MILWAUKEE RIVER WATERSHED

This funding will further cutting-edge approaches to reducing the risk of fecal contamination in surface waters. The leader of this work, Dr. Sandra McLellan and others the McLellan Lab at the School of Freshwater Sciences are using DNA sequencing to understand bacterial threats to human health posed by urban non-point and point source pollution. The research will contribute to a re-design of South Shore Beach, which has been plagued by contamination in recent years.
