This funding would subsidize the cost to farmers of changing agricultural practices on their land to promote greater soil health. Healthy soil can absorb more water, retain more nutrients, require less fertilizer and grow higher quality crops than traditional large scale farming methods. The Sheboygan River Progressive Farmers (SRPF) is a member-based organization comprised of 42 farmers in the Sheboygan and Milwaukee River watersheds. The group seeks funding to expand its membership, broaden its messaging initiatives, add soil health tests to its services and increase the impact of cost-share programs.
