Fund For Lake Michigan

Sheboygan Marsh Phase III

  • Grant Recipient: Ducks Unlimited
  • Amount: $111,250
  • Year: 2021
  • Watershed: Sheboygan River
  • Focus Area: Habitat Restoration

Sheboygan Marsh is the largest restored wetland in Wisconsin’s Lake Michigan basin. After multiple attempts to drain the area, a dam was built to replicate the previous limestone features in 1938. Ducks Unlimited and other community partners are now working to replace the deteriorating dam, reduce sediment entering the Sheboygan River, and maximize the ecological function of Broughton Marsh County Park.
