Root-Pike Watershed Initiative Network, Inc. ($62,735)This $62,735 award will support three simultaneous restoration projects at Colonial Park near downtown Racine. The City of Racine will remove 1,000 ash trees infested with Emerald Ash Borer from the park. To ensure that invasive species do not colonize the site, Root-Pike WIN and Weed Out Racine will work with the city to remove such invasive species in conjunction with the ash tree removal. Further, Root-Pike WIN will develop plans to restore a ravine in the park, as well as plans to restore a wetland in the historic floodplain.
