Our funding would support the final design of a regenerative stormwater conveyance (RSC) system to address a major stormwater runoff concern at the Willow Creek Preserve. The Willow Creek Preserve is an undeveloped tract of land in an otherwise urban landscape. The Preserve was identified as one of two ecologically important sites in the Sheboygan River Area of Concern due to presence of rare and representative natural communities, documented occurrences of rare species and opportunities for ecological restoration or connectivity. The site, however, has been degraded over the years through agricultural uses and local stormwater runoff. The construction of an RSC at this site would address the largest water quality concern on the site. Stormwater runoff from local commercial developments has caused significant erosion at the site and is the largest contributor of pollutants to the preserve. A RSC system is an excellent fit in this area due to the steep slope and compact area of the project.
