In the process of restoring wetlands at the headwaters of the Sommers Branch of the Pike River, experts found that culverts along the river inhibit fish movement and cause downstream erosion. This concept design is for the removal of the Davis Culvert, the most downstream of these impediments. The resulting project would open fish passage from Lake Michigan all the way to the Sommers Branch headwaters, recently restored with Fund support, and would reduce sediment loading to the South Branch of the Pike River.
