The Pike River at Petrifying Springs Park is classified as impaired due to high levels of sediment and phosphorus. To control erosion and improve water quality at the park and downstream to Lake Michigan, Kenosha County is installing green infrastructure and stabilizing a 3,000-foot stretch of riverbank in the park with native plants.
