Fund For Lake Michigan

Paid for Performance Program

  • Grant Recipient: Yahara Pride Farms
  • Amount: $65,000
  • Year: 2018
  • Watershed: Basinwide
  • Focus Area: Nutrient Management

This innovative project encourages farms in the upper Yahara River watershed that have worked on reducing soil and phosphorus losses to further their voluntary efforts to reach new target levels well below state standards. These farms operate in an area of both heavy agricultural use and rapid urbanization. Yahara Pride Farms will track result and, thanks to investments from partners who recognize that prevention costs much less than cleanup, reward achievements. The results will be applicable throughout the Lake Michigan watershed and beyond.
