The Yahara Pride Farms (YPF) Paid for Performance (PFP) model offers a more direct reimbursement system by paying farmers for documented reductions in the risk of phosphorus entering waters of the state. The PFP offers payments per pound of phosphorus compared to the traditional cost-share program which pays for the implementation of conservation practices, this proved to be of interest to farmers who already had stringent nutrient management plans in place. Field checks to verify the adoption of changes to the farming system were conducted and results tracked by running pre and post comparisons through SNAP Plus.
