Milwaukee’s historic and densely-populated Villard Avenue neighborhood currently suffers from brown fields, flooding, and lack of community greenspace, which can seriously affect local safety and quality of life. The North Milwaukee Artpark is an opportunity to address these deficits, build upon local conservation plans, expand stormwater retention capacity, and prevent pollutants from entering the Milwaukee watershed. The project is expected to add 46,000 gallons of stormwater retention per rain event, all while serving as a community hub for free public events, classes, and performances.
