Milwaukee Montessori (MMS) is the second oldest Montessori school in the country and currently serves about 400 K-8 students.  MMS plans to replace its large parking lot with porous pavers and other green infrastructure.  Together these features will capture and treat roughly 170,000 gallons of stormwater before it enters Honey Creek, a tributary of the Menomonee River. Roughly 44,350 square feet of pavement will be replaced with 42,123 sf of permeable interlocking concrete blocks, 7,293 sf of rain gardens, 32 stormwater trees and native plantings.  Students will participate in the inspection and maintenance of the rain gardens, native plantings, and stormwater trees. Several instructors will incorporate the project into their curriculum.
