The Milwaukee Area Estuary Area of Concern (AOC) is undergoing a massive cleanup and restoration effort that will ultimately cost over $500 million.  Public support and community engagement are critical to the long-term success of the cleanup and related restoration efforts. This grant would support Milwaukee AOC’s Community Advisory Committee which is being held up as a model for how to meaningfully engage and involve community members from all backgrounds and from all parts of the city in the effort.  Members of the CAC are compensated for their time and are recognized for the expertise, perspectives, and trusted relationships they bring to the process.  The CAC educates members of the public about the AOC while actively soliciting their input and engagement in designing and implementing AOC projects.
