Fund For Lake Michigan

Innovative Solutions to Overcome Barriers to Adoption of Regenerative Agriculture Practices

  • Grant Recipient: Outagamie County
  • Amount: $70,000
  • Year: 2021
  • Watershed: Fox River, Other
  • Focus Area: Nutrient Management

The goal of regenerative agriculture is to sustain local communities with nutritious food while also restoring and sustaining soil quality for the long term health of the agricultural ecosystem. The Outagamie County Land Conservation Department has been a champion of these practices in Northeastern Wisconsin, providing shared equipment, demonstrating the latest technologies, and promoting regenerative practices to area farmers. A new broadcast seeder will help expand their current capacity for crop interseeding, while innovative GPS grazing collars will allow more farmers to transition to grazing cattle.
