Inclusion in the Outdoors 2024

The Multicultural Coalition is based in Menasha and serves communities in Calumet, Outagamie and Winnebago Counties.  With Fund for Lake Michigan support, Inclusion in the Outdoors will organize a series of outings, events and programs focused on connecting people to the water and fostering a sense of water stewardship in the Fox Cities. Inclusion in the Outdoors was formed in 2022 in response to a research project funded by the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. That research showed that intentional work was needed to overcome significant historical, cultural, infrastructure and financial barriers that make utilization of outdoor spaces – including waterways – and participation in outdoor activities more challenging for people of color and members of other marginalized groups.  Inclusion in the Outdoors’s goal is to make Fox Valley outdoor spaces and waterways more welcoming, inclusive, and accessible for members of historically marginalized groups.
