  • Year: 2023
  • Watershed: Root River
  • Focus Area: Green Infrastructure

This grant will support the City of Racine in building a state-of-the-art Health Clinic and Community Center in the Lincoln-King neighborhood, an underserved neighborhood on Racine’s north side. They intend to make the facility an example of sustainability for the community and beyond by making it a net zero building. The site will showcase sustainable water technologies including over 15,000 square feet of permeable pavement in the parking lot and drop-off areas, nearly 1,700 square feet of bioretention practices, and 3,700 square feet of underground stone storage to manage stormwater onsite. Inside the building an innovative rainwater capture and reuse system will be implemented. Other sustainability measures include solar panels and geothermal exchange field below the parking lot.
