A grant from the Fund will support Caitlin Looby, a Ph.D. climate scientist turned journalist whose in-depth reporting on the Great Lakes and water quality issues has become an essential source of news for readers across Wisconsin and beyond. At a time of news media uncertainty and federal funding cuts for environmental programs, sustaining experienced, trusted local journalism on Great Lakes issues is an important investment in the long-term health of Lake Michigan.
Our funding will also boost MJS capacity to experiment with new content delivery models, including community events, social media content, newsletters, and publishing partnerships with other papers in the Gannett/USA Today Network.
