PIT tag antennas are a tool for collecting important lake sturgeon data including migration habits, maturation age, and relative annual abundance in various waterways. Replacing an outdated PIT antenna in the Mequon-Thiensville Fishway will allow DNR biologists to track the success of past conservation efforts and plan for the future. The biologists will use their increased understanding of healthy sturgeon spawning habitat to improve spawning habitat throughout the Milwaukee River.
