Creating Downtown Milwaukee’s First Dog Park

  • Grant Recipient: Milwaukee BID #21
  • Amount: $25,000
  • Year: 2024
  • Watershed: Milwaukee River
  • Focus Area: Green Infrastructure

With support from the Fund, the Milwaukee Downton BID will transform a blighted site along the Milwaukee River into the city’s first downtown dog park.  The roughly one-acre site currently drains untreated stormwater directly into the Milwaukee River. The BID will add green infrastructure, trees and native plants, and a new drainage system to direct stormwater and wastewater to the combined sewer. Stormwater capture on site will far exceed MMSD’s minimal requirements.
