This funding would subsidize the cost to farmers of changing agricultural practices on their land and provide match to secure a grant from the Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protections (DATCP). These practices include planting cover crops, switching to “no-till” cropping and utilizing low-disturbance manure applicators to help safeguard water quality in the Milwaukee River watershed. Ozaukee County and the Clean Farm Families continue to set the example of what a successful Demonstration Farm network looks like in Wisconsin. Project partners have been successful in securing larger grants from DATCP and USDA to support this work.
