With this grant, MPS and partner REFLO will expand the reach of the successful green schoolyard movement. MPS will remove asphalt and replace it with green infrastructure, native plantings, vegetable gardens, and nature-themed play structures at five additional schools, transforming their outdoor spaces from asphalt seas to vibrant, living, growing spaces. The green schoolyards, where children can play and learn during the school day, will be designed to be accessible and welcoming to the larger community outside of school hours.
