Love Your Great Lakes Day at Discovery World

Saturday, February 13th

Bring the whole family to enjoy hands-on activities aimed at introducing you to our community’s connection to freshwater through local organizations that are instrumental in sustaining the Great Lakes.

The day will be filled with fun:

  • See various cold-blooded animals indigenous to the Great Lakes watersheds, courtesy of Mequon Nature Preserve, Inc.
  • View small aquatic organisms with a hand lens and identify and check off on a Critter Bingo card! Play Go FISH by fishing for magnetic fish in a small aquarium. And use sturgeon stamps to make prints on lunch bags and bandanas! All courtesy of Riveredge Nature Center.
  • Experience an interactive floodplain model that provides a hands-on demonstration regarding the impact of stormwater on built environment, provided by Stormwater Solutions Engineering.
  • Loveable Bubbles OPEN LAB

11am-1pm AND 2pm-4pm in the THIRST Lab
FREE with General Admission

Experiment with different types of tea and fruit juices to create your own unique Bubble Tea potion.

This open lab experience is perfect for scientists of all ages with adult supervision. Please let the educator know if you have any allergies.

  • Great Lakes Carnival Games in the Innovation Theater include Great Lakes Rubber Duckies, Great Lakes Fishing, Great Lakes Fish Bowl Toss, and Great Lakes Coloring Worksheets. Have fun and win prizes!
